                                                                   OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

SPCS is a non-profit, volunteer based Seniors’ Health Care advocacy group located in the Greater Trail, West Kootenay, British Columbia, Canada.

Our mission is to advocate and pursue options for adequate, affordable, accessible and safe continuing care resources and services for seniors within their immediate communities. We will accomplish this by advocating, communicating, disseminating information and educating.

It is with great sadness, that we are sharing Carol Albo passed away on January 8th, 2026 after a short illness.   Her service will be held on January 15th, 11:00 at the Holy Trinity Church in Trail.

Carol was one of the founding members of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Seniors in 2006.  The tragedy of losing both Albo parents (shortly after they were separated by the hospital) made both Carol and Jim determined to help seniors and improve their situations whenever possible.   Carol was active in the group (now known as the Society for Protection and Care of Seniors) right until her passing.  In her main role as chairperson of the Advocacy committee, she continually helped many seniors and their families to improve their life situations.  So many of us in the Kootenays have her to thank for easing our problems.  She also filled many other roles in our organization - as President, Secretary, Registrar - no role was too small or big to earn her attention.

Carol will be very missed not only by all the Society for Protection and Care of Seniors executive and membership, but by all the other groups that have received the benefit of her volunteerism.  She has left big footsteps for us to try and fill.  Many thanks to her and her family for their years of support.

BC Government Health Records Site - Health Gateway

1.  The Health Gateway is a provincial service which provides British Columbians with access to information, regardless of where they received care or services.  My Health Portal and other regional portals provide access to information within the regional systems. We are collaborating with our health sector partners to ensure we are providing complementary services.

2.  The Health Gateway is updated weekly with new features and information. We prioritize our enhancements based on your feedback, and we encourage you to provide suggestions by e-mailing [email protected].

3.  For people managing others' healthcare and needing access to records:  Currently, only parents or guardians of children 11 years or younger can access their children’s COVID-19 test results. We are working to enable family and caregiver access in the future.
